At a belated, virtual, AGM of the Yorkshire Federation, held on the 2nd of December, representatives of the 5 member societies unanimously approved the nomination , submitted by East Yorkshire, of Stuart Gray-Cowan for Honorary Life Membership of the Federation. The submission from East detailing Stuart's contribution, over many years is shown below and, on behalf of the Federation I would like to thank him for all of his hard work and wish him well in his retirement .
Chair Yorkshire Federation of Referees' Societies
"Stuart combined a career in the Army with his refereeing and advising career.
After a successful playing career, Stuart joined the East Yorkshire Society in1991 refereeing regularly on Saturday & Sunday.
In approximately 2002 he moved to an advising role watching referees on behalf of the Society on a weekend and also viewing Combined Services referees, some on oversea appointments. He worked his way up to the role of a North Group Assessor
helping many promising referees to improve their skills and move “onwards & upwards.”
Stuart has always been willing to give his time and experience working on several committees.
He continues to serve on the East Yorkshire Committee as Advisers Appointments Secretary, a role he has held for many years.
Stuart’s health has deteriorated over the last few years and he feels the time is right for him to stand down.
The Society, at this point in time , feel his service should be rewarded with a Life Membership."
